So it’s kind of a complicated process, but here’s the two-sentence version: Lightning
is an electric current that takes the path of least resistance from the base of a cloud
to the ground. Since the air it travels through is not uniform—variations in things like temperature,
humidity, and pollutants determine how resistant air is to
the charge—the lightning has to zig and zag to stay on that path.

One way to understand it is to look at a crack in the sidewalk (or perhaps a cracker) and compare that shape to the path of a lightning stroke through the sky.
Lightning usually originates at altitudes of around ten miles,
and can reach about that far horizontally. Air does not conduct electricity until
it is broken down (‘ionized’) by a high voltage electric field.
This breakdown is a random, unpredictable process that proceeds in a series of steps
between the sky and the earth.
Joaquin Phoenix and his fiancée Rooney Mara put on unified
front when they arrived in Venice, Italy, on Monday.
The 49-year-old Napoleon star and the 39-year-old Social Network actress pictured in the tourist destination’s airport
ahead of the high-profile Venice Film Festival.
They were spotted getting around the picturesque city in one
of its iconic water taxis.
Joaquin was set to make a major appearance ahead of the premiere of his
dark comic book film Joker: Folie à Deux.
Fans and critics are getting a look at the film after
the actor made himself persona non grata among independent filmmakers when he dropped
out of acclaimed director Todd Haynes’ untitled gay romance just five days before production was to begin.
Joaquin Phoenix, 49, and his fiancée Rooney Mara, 39, put on unified
front when they arrived in Venice, Italy, on Monday. They were pictured at the airport before heading to a water taxi
The two were set to attend the Venice Film Festival, where Phoenix’s highly anticipated sequel Joker:
Folie à Deux is premiering
The couple appeared to be joined by their youngest child, whose name has not yet been publicly revealed.
Rooney held the little one close to her in a striped blanket that was wrapped around her shoulders.
The loved-up couple were dressed casually for their arrival in Venice.
Joaquin looked cool and relaxed in a plain black T-shirt that highlighted his
toned arms, which he paired with black track pants rolled up at the hems.
He matched them with tall black socks and low-key
gray sneakers.
The Academy Award winner wore his graying hair in a messy
mop contrasting his black glasses, and he also had on a black
backpack.
Rooney had on a black blouse and a long black jacket while wrapping her blanket around her torso over it.
She kept things simple with high-waisted blue jeans and
black flats.
Her brunette locks were tied back in a bun, and she covered up with black oval-shaped sunglasses.
The Her costars have been together since 2016, and they share two young children together.
They welcomed their first child, River — named after Joaquin’s late brother
River Phoenix — in August of 2020, and Rooney gave birth to their second child in June of this year, but few
details have been revealed about the younger child.
Joaquin was focusing on his likely blockbuster Joker: Folie à Deux following the controversy over his
departure from an indie romance drama just five days before it was to begin production.
The shocking move left director Todd Haynes and indie superproducer Christine Vachon scrambling to find a replacement for the lead role,
which was ultimately unsuccessful due to the extraordinarily short time before filming.
Vachon later called the experience a ‘nightmare,’ but she defended
the film from critics who claimed only a gay actor should have been cast in Phoenix’s role.
She reminded the writers of rude social media comments
that Phoenix was the person who brought the project to her and
Haynes, meaning he couldn’t be separated from the
film.
Vachon also defended her production company’s record of hiring
actors in the LGBTQ community, and she said that the criticism was only making the ‘terrible situation even worse.’
Phoenix and Top Gun: Maverick actor Danny Ramirez, 31, were
to play onscreen lovers in the 1930s-set film, which was
said to include ‘explicit sexual content.’

Phoenix was promoting Joker 2 just weeks after dropping out of director Todd Haynes’ untitled 1930s-set gay romance just five days before filming was to start in Mexico; Haynes (R) is pictured with
the film’s producer, Christine Vachon, at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021
Phoenix was intimately connected to the production, as
he reportedly developed the movie’s screenplay with Haynes and Jon Raymond.
A source claimed to Variety that the star dropped out amid trepidation over the
film’s graphic sex scenes.
However, others disputed that characterization and noted that he played
a major role in getting the film into production in the first place.
Phoenix has reportedly suffered from cold feet on multiple previous projects that he ultimately continued with.
LONDON, Sept 28 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International (PMI) on Thursday signalled a slower than anticipated
U.S. roll out of its IQOS heated tobacco device, a choice analysts said was
positive for its competitors in the short term.
The New York-listed Marlboro maker also said it aims for
more than two thirds of its net revenues to come from “smoke-free” products
by 2030, up from 50% in 2025, as it tries to transform its image from a cigarette purveyor to
a driver of the shift to healthier alternatives.
Investors have been closely watching IQOS’ entry into the U.S., the world’s largest market
for nicotine products, and had been expecting it from May 2024 next year.
Reuters reported on Wednesday that PMI is hiring lobbyists across a host
of key U.S. states ahead of the launch.
Chief Executive Jacek Olczak said IQOS would launch in four cities in two
unnamed U.S. states from 2024, but a national
launch would only come after PMI receives approval
to sell the latest version, known as IQOS ILUMA.
The company was planning to apply for approval in October and expected it from 2025,
he continued.
“We need to warm up the tyres,” he said of the initial launch, which would help PMI
fine tune its approach.
A national roll-out of ILUMA would follow but in phases, he
continued, adding launching in 10 states in the first year would make sense.
Meaningful traction for PMI’s heated tobacco products in the U.S.
“now looks delayed until ILUMA,” Owen Bennett, equity analyst at Jefferies, said in a note,
adding this was a positive for PMI’s rivals.
Olczak also signalled that PMI’s push into non-nicotine products was no longer a priority.
It recently scrapped an ambition for $1 billion in net revenues to come from sales of
such products by 2025.
Instead, PMI will focus its resources on IQOS and nicotine pouch brand ZYN, Olczak said,
adding it had been too optimistic around acceptance of big
tobacco companies operating outside of nicotine.
PMI also announced updated medium-term targets including for
revenue and earnings per share, and ambitious volume targets for IQOS and ZYN.
ZYN and other oral nicotine products in the U.S. would help drive an expected $2 billion in revenues there in 2024, even before
IQOS ILUMA, executives said.
PMI shares were up 1.5% on Thursday. (Reporting by Emma Rumney in London and Granth Vanaik in Bengaluru; additional reporting by Ananya Mariam Rajesh in Bengaluru;

Early reactions to Joker: Folie à Deux suggest a blend of
‘brilliance’ and ‘boredom’, leading to a mixed bag of reviews.
The film sees the return of Joaquin Phoenix’s Oscar-winning portrayal of Arthur Fleck/Joker and the addition of
pop powerhouse Lady Gaga as Joker’s love interest Harley Quinn.
Premiering to a full house at the Venice Film Festival on Wednesday, the eagerly awaited sequel to Todd
Phillips’ billion-dollar hit divided critics.
While some found it ‘superior’ to the acclaimed 2019 film and lauded the
performances of both Phoenix and Gaga, others slammed Joker: Folie à Deux as ‘derivative’ and devoid of ‘fun.’
DailyMail’s Brian Viner called the movie musical ‘audaciously different in style from the original,
not quite as electrifying, but bold and brilliant all the same.’

Lady Gaga puts on a loved-up display with her fiancé Michael Polansky at Joker
premiere
Owen Gleiberman appeared a bit less impressed in his review for Variety, writing
that the ‘cracked jukebox musical’ had an audacious concept, ‘but in a basic way it’s an overly cautious sequel.’
IndieWire’s David Ehrlich took a bit of a harsher tone, saying the 138-minute flick
is ‘boring, flat, and a criminal waste of Lady Gaga,’ adding it feels ‘bad on purpose.’
He added: ‘Phillips has created a corporate pop spectacle that all
but demands to be seen as something else.
‘Here is a movie that perversely denies audiences everything
they’ve been conditioned to want from it; gently at first, and then later with
the unmistakable hostility of a knife to the gut.
‘And that, more than anything else, is why Folie à Deux adopts
the form of a classic musical: Because no other genre makes it so easy to appreciate all the fun you’re not having.’
In contrast, Alex Harrison of ScreenRant describes Joker:
Folie à Deux as a more refined sequel designed to provoke
fans of the original film.
‘Joker: Folie à Deux has more coherent things to say about fan culture than it or its predecessor does about
mental illness, which, for me, makes it the superior of the two,’ he stated.
Deadline’s Pete Hammond praises the film as ‘brilliant’ and lauds
the performances of the leads.
‘Phoenix knows this character inside and out, and in what others might say is a risky proposition, he tap
dances, sings and sells this role like no other — if not topping his Oscar-winning turn in Joker, at least finding a way to take him in different, wholly surprising direction.
‘Gaga is smartly low-key, not the Harley Quinn we
associate with Margot Robbie, but her own person, dressed down and believably showing affection and connection with Joker and,
more important, the man behind the makeup.’
The Hollywood Reporter says Joker: Folie à Deux feels ‘narratively a little thin and at times dull… This sequel is built on more of a conceit than a solid story foundation.’
‘Even more than its predecessor, Joker: Folie à Deux reduces the
archvillain to a hollowed-out product of childhood trauma and mental illness.
Which means there’s little we didn’t learn last time,’ added the outlet’s David Rooney.
The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw wrote, ‘There’s a great supporting cast and a barnstorming first act
but Todd Phillips’s much-hyped Gotham sequel proves claustrophobic and repetitive.’
DailyMail’s Brian Viner called the musical ‘audaciously different in style from the original, not quite
as electrifying, but bold and brilliant all the same’

Deadline’s Pete Hammond praises the film as ‘brilliant’ and

The Times called it a ‘messy, lifeless sequel’ that ‘didn’t need to
exist.’
‘The director Todd Phillips said there would be no
follow-up to the original, but he changed his mind and
the result is a derivative musical,’ the outlet’s Kevin Maher wrote.
Allison Willmore at Vulture panned the movie, writing, ‘Mostly, Arthur is acted upon, even when he
thinks he’s seizing control — a punching bag for the world and,
more importantly, for the director, who subjects the character
to so many indignities that he actually stops being pitiable and starts resembling
the punchline to a very long, shaggy joke.
‘By the end of Joker: Folie à Deux, that joke feels like it’s on us.’
Joker: Folie à Deux is set to be released in theaters on October 4,
2024.
It is the much-anticipated follow-up to 2019’s Academy Award-winning Joker, which earned more than $1 billion at the global box office and remains the
highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
The second installment finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker.
‘While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that’s always been inside him,’ a press release shared.

Briton Matthew Smith, the partner of former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Michael
Jeffries, leaves court in Central Islip, New York
on December 3, 2024
The partner of the ex-CEO of the Abercrombie and Fitch clothing line pleaded not guilty Tuesday in US federal court to
charges of sex trafficking and interstate prostitution and was released
on $10 million bond.
Briton Matthew Smith, the ex-CEO Mike Jeffries and their fixer
James Jacobson allegedly used a “casting couch” ploy to groom aspiring male models to attend
sex parties at which victims were plied with alcohol
and drugs.
After his arrest in October in Florida with Jeffries, Smith was held in custody in New York.
Smith appeared in court Tuesday in Central Islip
on Long Island, to the east of New York City.
Smith pleaded not guilty and was released on a $10 million bond put up by Jeffries and his family, said a statement from the US attorney’s office
for the eastern district of New York.
An AFP photographer saw Smith leave the courthouse with what appeared to be
a large electronic surveillance bracelet attached to his ankle.

avoir plaidé non coupable de trafic sexuel et proxénétisme
Another hearing is scheduled for December 10 for Smith, Jeffries and Jacobson.
Jeffries, 80, was released on a $10 million bond
in late October.
Jeffries, who served as CEO of Abercrombie and Fitch from
1992 to 2014, is accused of creating and maintaining a ring that recruited young men to have sex with him and Smith.
Prosecutors allege that between December 2008 and March 2015 Jeffries,
Smith and Jacobson used a combination of “force, fraud and coercion” to traffic men in a sprawling prostitution enterprise.
Charging documents detail 15 anonymous victims, but prosecutors
suggest the scale was probably much larger and have appealed for witnesses and
victims to come forward.
Prosecutors say young men were taken to the New York home of Jeffries and Smith and to hotels in Britain, France,
Italy, Morocco to have sex with them.
Jeffries faces the prospect of life in prison if convicted.
Jacobson also pleaded not guilty to the same charges as the other defendants and was released on half
a million dollars bond in October.
Des électeurs attendent l’ouverture d’un bureau de vote
à Windhoek, le 29 novembre 2024 en Namibie
Namibians returned to vote on Friday in 36 polling
stations reopened two days after a chaotic election, set to test
the ruling party’s 34-year grip on power, was marred by technical problems.
Tensions are mounting in the historically stable and peaceful southern African nation where
Wednesday’s election was marked by long delays and labelled a “sham” by the opposition.
Some people waited 12 hours in line to vote in presidential and legislative polls, billed as the toughest yet for the South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO) party, in power since Namibia’s 1990
independence from South africa.
Wednesday’s queues were caused by many technical problems, including issues with
tablets used to register voters and shortages of ballot papers.
In some cases, torches used to show up invisible ink
had run out of batteries and mobile voting teams had left areas with voters still in the queues, it said.
Facing criticism from both voters and parties, the electoral commission extended the vote for a second time, giving Namibians
until Saturday evening to vote.
In the capital Windhoek, at the only polling station picked to reopen, about 60 people showed up on Friday, including Kluivert Muuondjo who arrived
at 4:30 am.
The 21-year-old student said he had waited in line until 11:
00 pm on Wednesday but left before being able to vote as he had exams the next day.
Des électeurs attendent l’ouverture d’un bureau de vote
à Windhoek, le 29 novembre 2024 en Namibie
“Everyone will have the chance to vote,” he said.
But because Namibians can vote at any given polling station, he was worried “everyone will flock to one place again.”
The disarray led to angry complaints from opposition parties with some calling for
a halt in the electoral process.
Opposition parties were scheduled to meet on Friday and issue a joint statement, according to Christine
Aochamus who represents the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) party.
Youth unemployment, enduring inequalities and the
emergence of a generation born after independence are challenging support
towards SWAPO which has ruled since 1990.
Its candidate, vice-president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who could become the first woman to lead the country if elected, could face an unprecedented second round in the mineral rich country.
“To open only one place in Khomas (the region of which the capital is part of) is absurd,”
said voter Ensley Engermund, who also said he couldn’t vote
on Wednesday because of long queues despite trying
four different polling stations.
“Only 1.5 millions voters are registered and we get this chaos?” asked the 49-year-old security agent.
Nothing signals the start of winter quite like the return of the Fair Isle knit.
Once considered ‘ugly’ knitwear we’d only pull out from the back
of our wardrobes as an alternative to a Christmas jumper (especially the red-nosed reindeer kind à la Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones’s Diary)
or for a winter sport holiday (specifically for après-ski), the
Fair Isle jumper has now become somewhat of a fashion statement.
The knit is named after the small, eponymous Shetland
Island in Scotland and uses a traditional knitting technique to create those distinctive patterns with multiple colours.
It was brought into vogue by an earlier Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII)
in the 1920s, and has remained a casual wardrobe staple for members of the Royal Family, including Kate Middleton, whose jumper collection includes at least three different Fair Isle designs.
Kensington Palace
Another fan of the nostalgic knit is Alexa Chung, who recently layered a Fair Isle vest by Molly Goddard over a light blue
button-down in a snap for Instagram. The It-girl previously also wore a V-neck vest from Cotswolds-based knitwear
brand Cooking Apple, and sported a chunky Fair Isle crewneck with white, straight-leg jeans, black loafers and
an oversized, black leather blazer to ring in the
festive season at private members’ club in London last year.
A host of designers have dropped Fair Isle-inspired
knits for AW24, proving the multicoloured jumpers have become a timeless investment.
If, as in our case, that £1,885 cashmere turtleneck from Loro Piana is a little out
of your budget, there are countless options on the high street.
The cropped cardi from Hush certainly caught our attention,
as did the Fair Isle knit that was featured in the John Lewis Christmas advert.

everyday Australians, unlike the two-party-dominated system in the United States.
The Oscar-winning actor made the claim in response to podcast host Joe Rogan
complaining that Americans were ‘completely trapped in the two-party system’.
‘We have the same sort of situation, but we have a very
interesting thing that’s happening in Australia at the moment, which is the rise of independents,
‘ Crowe countered.
‘The main parties have to deal with the fact those
independents have to bring a non-party-line series of points to the argument.
‘And it’s working well. It’s working for us.
In that it’s making both of the main parties re-examine who they
are and what they stand for.
Rogan mused ‘we could use that here, for sure’, highlighting how US politics is completely dominated by the
Democrat and Republican parties.
There are other parties, including the Green, Libertarian, and Reform parties, but these
receive vanishingly few votes in comparison.
Independent candidates can also stand and have been known to perform well on occasion.
The Oscar-winning actor (pictured ) made the observation in response to podcast host Joe Rogan who complained that Americans
were ‘completely trapped in the two-party system’
Joe Rogan (pictured) is one of the most powerful
media figures in the world
Civil rights opponent George Wallace ran a third-party campaign in the
1968 US election which saw him garner 10 million votes and take five southern states,
while another disaffected Democrat, Strom Thurmond,
in 1948 carried four southern states on a similarly racist platform but with only a million votes.
The nephew of a president, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was poised
to get on the ballot in dozens of states as an independent candidate before he pulled out and backed Republican Donald Trump.
He has now been appointed Health secretary in Trump’s incoming cabinet.
Trump himself had previously belonged to the Reform Party.
The former New York property developer had even considered
running for president in the 2000 election under the banner of that movement –
formed by former third-party presidential candidate Ross Perot, who won 19 per
cent of the popular vote in 1992 but gained no electoral college votes.
Perot was the most popular minority party candidate since former Republican president Teddy Roosevelt in 1912 ran as the Bull Moose Party candidate – carrying six states
including California and coming second ahead
of Republican William Taft.
Australia has seen a rise in recent years of
nominally independent politicians who have taken votes away from the two traditional parties of Labor and the Liberal-National
coalition
This situation is helped by a strong Green party who now have 12 senators
and four members in the House of Representatives.
Zali Steggall (pictured) became the first
‘teal’ independent to achieve huge success when she ousted former prime minister
Tony Abbott in his seat in Sydney’s northern beaches at the 2019
election
Meanwhile, independent candidates who run on strong climate platforms but are fiscally conservative have been labelled ‘teal’ candidates.
This is because they have combined their ‘green’ views on climate with the
traditional ‘blue’ approach of the centre-right Liberal Party on economics.
Zali Steggall became the first teal independent to achieve huge success when she
ousted former prime minister Tony Abbott in his seat in Sydney’s northern beaches at the 2019 election.
In similar fashion, Monique Ryan won the traditionally Liberal seat from former treasurer Josh Frydenberg at the 2022 election.
She was one of seven teals elected, swelling the
lower house crossbench to 16, with this tally including the four Greens, three conservative independents and
progressives Andrew Wilkie and Helen Haines.
Crowe’s three-hour conversation with Rogan, which was first aired in August, has recently resurfaced
in teal social media adverts.
They are being pushed by Melbourne philanthropist Simon Holmes à Court, who founded Climate
200, which has given campaign funding to some teal candidates.
Not all the 12 independents elected in 2022 were teals, however.
Maverick independent Bob Katter has just celebrated 50 years in parliament (pictured: being congratulated by prime minister Anthony Albanese)
Dai Lee, a former state Liberal candidate, defeated former Labor frontbencher and former NSW Labor premier
Kristina Keneally in the south-west Sydney seat of Fowler.
And, of course, maverick Bob Katter who has just celebrated 50 years in parliament,
spending 20 years as a Queensland state MP before serving the past three decades in federal parliament as the MP for the
regional far north Queensland electorate of Kennedy.
Among his many mad-hat policies over the years include a bid to teach school kids how
to fire rifles and a desire to build a missile shield across northern Australia.
The House of Representatives crossbench grew to 17 in late 2022 when Andrew Gee quit
the Nationals in protest at its opposition to the Indigenous Voice to Parliament.
The Greens and independents make up 11 per cent
of the 151-member lower house – the highest proportion of non major party MPs since Federation in 1901.

How much you know about the Ice Wine especially of Canada?
Well, you must have been aware of numerous kinds of wines available in the market but if we talk about the Ice Wine then it must
be said that it is a type of dessert wine made from frozen grapes in extremely cold climatic conditions.
It is a popular statement that people assert about Canadian Ice wine is that it is a rare
gift from a magical winter in Canada. But it is worthy to mention here that
there are various kinds of Ice wines produced from different grape
varieties. Though the most famous producer of ice wines is Germany but in Canada also
there are several regions which favor the production of
Ice-wine and one of prominent among them is Niagara.
How Ice-Wine is produced?
Because ice-wine can made in the season of winter only, it
becomes a challenge to produce it and process is also labor-intensive.
But fruit of that labor is very sweet and of rare quality.
One needs to undergo following procedure in order to
make best ice-wine:
Grapes are cultivated first
Ice making process can be possible only in the
area of which climate can allow the grapes ripen on the vine and let them remain there until there is a hard freeze.
Thereafter harvest those frozen grapes.
Then press the frozen grapes and it is the most crucial stage in making it as most of the water containing in grapes remains
behind as ice crystals and obtaining a drop or two from frozen grapes is actually very concentrated.
This juice is then fermented for a period of two weeks or
few months and is finally bottled.
Typical grapes which are used in the making of ice wine are Riesling,
considered to be of highest noble variety and Vidal is the most popular in Ontario and Canada.
It is important to note that the coldest the grapes the higher
will be the percentage of sugar in its juice, exactly as you
could desire.
Why ice wines are so popular?
Ice wine usually has mild alcohol content than regular table wines.
It is of very rare quality and taste is exceptional.
It is very sweet wine made in an exclusive manner and gives the
feel like of nectar.
It is manually produced from naturally frozen grapes.
If you really wish to taste pure Canadian ice wine, then Peller Estates Icewine can duly fulfill your desire as it is

Des électeurs attendent l’ouverture d’un bureau de vote à Windhoek, le 29 novembre 2024 en Namibie
Namibians returned to vote on Friday in 36 polling stations reopened two days after a chaotic election, set to test the ruling party’s 34-year grip on power, was marred by technical problems.
Tensions are mounting in the historically stable
and peaceful southern African nation where Wednesday’s election was marked by
long delays and labelled a “sham” by the opposition.
Some people waited 12 hours in line to vote in presidential and legislative polls,
billed as the toughest yet for the South West
Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO) party, in power since Namibia’s 1990 independence from South africa.
Wednesday’s queues were caused by many technical problems,
including issues with tablets used to register voters and shortages of ballot papers.
In some cases, torches used to show up invisible ink had run out of
batteries and mobile voting teams had left areas with voters still
in the queues, it said.
Facing criticism from both voters and parties, the electoral
commission extended the vote for a second time, giving Namibians
until Saturday evening to vote.
In the capital Windhoek, at the only polling station picked to reopen,
about 60 people showed up on Friday, including Kluivert Muuondjo who arrived at 4:30 am.
The 21-year-old student said he had waited in line
until 11:00 pm on Wednesday but left before being able to vote as he had exams the next
day.

“Everyone will have the chance to vote,” he said. But because Namibians can vote at any given polling
station, he was worried “everyone will flock to one place again.”
The disarray led to angry complaints from opposition parties with some calling for a halt
in the electoral process.
Opposition parties were scheduled to meet on Friday and issue a joint statement, according to Christine Aochamus who represents the Independent Patriots
for Change (IPC) party.
Youth unemployment, enduring inequalities and the emergence of a generation born after independence are challenging support towards SWAPO which has ruled since 1990.
Its candidate, vice-president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah,
who could become the first woman to lead the country if elected, could face an unprecedented second round in the
mineral rich country.
“To open only one place in Khomas (the region of which the capital is part of) is absurd,” said voter Ensley
Engermund, who also said he couldn’t vote on Wednesday because of long queues despite trying four different polling stations.
“Only 1.5 millions voters are registered and we get this chaos?” asked the 49-year-old security agent.

The cost for one of London’s most pricey apartments will begin at £35million – with 600
megarich customers already securing a spot on the waiting list.
Pricing details of billionaire John Caudwell’s spectacular 1 Mayfair development have now been revealed and only those with the deepest
pockets can hope to afford one of the lavish pads.
The cheapest apartment on offer is expected to be an eye-watering £35million – around 70 times the
average cost of a house in the capital.
Due to complete in Spring 2026 the scheme will easily surpass London’s previous record breaker,
the £1.3billion One Hyde Park development in Knightsbridge.
Caudwell told The Standard that there are
already more than 600 prospective buyers on a waiting list of billionaires and centi-millionaires who have expressed an interest in making a purchase
at the scheme.
There will be just 24 ‘principal residences’ in the property including lateral apartments, penthouses and townhouses with up to five bedrooms,
and five more smaller ‘pieds-à-terre’ apartments.
The size of the homes has not yet been disclosed but the developers say
even the most modest property will start with a
guide price exceeded by only a handful of mansions in London’s richest
neighbourhoods.
The average price of all 29 units – which cover 300,000 sq ft –
will be close to £70million.

The entry level price of £35million is 70 times the average London property value of
around £500,000, and 130 times the national average price of £268,000 revealed in today’s Nationwide house price
survey for November.
The development’s basement is being dug down to 90ft below ground level to make room for a
health spa with a 20 metre swimming pool as well as a car park.
The designs were led by New York based architect Robert Stern and practice RAMSA, with contractors, Mace, the construction managers and PJ Carey responsible for the creation of the
basement substructure and superstructure.

Caudwell – who founded the mobile phones retailers Phones 4u –
attended the topping out of 1 Mayfair alongside senior members of the
construction team.
The ceremony was marked by the final steel rafter, one of 79 at roof level, being put
into place on the top of the nine-storey main apartment building.
No expense has been spared on the building’s interior and it will feature a ceiling with hand-painted frescos based on Michelangelo’s Map of the Heavens in the Vatican,
a reception room with a double height ceiling and 18ft high French windows overlooking the garden.
There will also be a Palace of Versailles Hall of Mirrors-style crystal callery, created from over 1,
264 hand-set pieces of cut glass, a library and a garden gallery, with seating areas opening directly onto
the central courtyard garden.

EXCLUSIVE
KELLYANNE CONWAY: Don’s back! Here’s his new 2024 blueprint
And it was the same story when we worked together in the White House.
While Jill Biden has insisted on being called ‘Doctor’, Melania was
admired and beloved by the political and permanent staffers alike, asking after their children by name, welcoming them to events big and
small, and treating them with inclusivity and respect.
Known as a protective and present mother, Melania now uses
her memoir to call out the ‘sheer malice’ of unfunny comic
Rosie O’Donnell who, in 2016, tweeted despicable and totally unfounded claims about Barron, then aged 10.
It was just weeks after Trump had stunned the world and won, and the same liberal media and Hollywood types,
who perpetuated every vicious attack against him, reveled as O’Donnell’s vile
lie wormed its way across social media.
It was a shock to see such naked cruelty towards a First Child, especially
when so many of us had treated Chelsea Clinton and the Obama daughters like Fabergé eggs.
Kids (including mine) should always be off limits.
I’ve known and worked alongside Melania for many years, and regard her as a
friend. (Pictured together in 2018 visiting Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center).
Earlier this year, Melania and I lost our mothers just
weeks apart. Even as she navigated her loss
in public view, Melania made every effort to be there for me.
She and President Trump called, sent flowers, handwritten notes
and checked in with me time and again. (Pictured: Together with
Trump in the White House in 2019).
But instead of going to war, Melania acted swiftly and tenderly
to shield her son. She channeled maternal outrage into a first lady’s focus on initiatives centered
around children’s wellness and cyberbullying awareness.
Her ‘Be Best’ campaign remains a highlight of her time in office.
Melania has never been one for preening and posturing.
Other first ladies used their roles to land on the cover of fashion magazines,
but she did so on her own, years before, as a successful model.
Even when I’ve suggested she push back on myriad false claims made by the media or ungrateful former staffers
who have returned her trust in them with self-serving
lies and revisionist history, she has declined, knowing that her silence
is always more powerful.
Behind closed doors, Trump has, for decades, regarded his wife as a top confidante and counselor.
Whether as an international business mogul, a TV star or, lately, leader
of the free world, it is Melania’s opinion that he has consistently sought.
Trump enjoys the company of plenty of friends, taking
a range of advice, but he speaks of – and to – Melania in an entirely unique way.
Really, he fears yet reveres her. He respects her independence, seeks her input, trusts her keen eye, sharp ear and sense
of people.
I have witnessed their relationship up close, and it is one fundamentally built on mutual love and respect.
Recently, as Barron was heading off for college and Melania was preparing to publish her memoir, I
jokingly asked Trump how it might feel to be the second most popular
man and the second most prominent author in the household.
He chuckled and relented.
Melania Trump has plenty to say and nothing to prove. She is not a
typical political spouse rushing to the cameras on matters that are
best handled privately, or loudly offering insights or slights about her husband’s political opponents à la Hillary Clinton and
Michelle Obama.
She is an asset, a partner, an equal who is neither trying to control – looking at you, Jill Biden – nor controlled by her partner.
She is what many feminists insist they are: independent, a product of her own choices,
comfortable in her own skin.
She has been by Trump’s side the entire time. Though
never in his shadow. In fact, from that very first moment
they descended the golden escalator, she’s been leading the way.

PMI shares were up 1.5% on Thursday. (Reporting by Emma Rumney in London and Granth Vanaik in Bengaluru; additional reporting by Ananya Mariam Rajesh in Bengaluru;

Lady Gaga lived up to her fashion icon status for the London premiere of The Joker: Folie à Deux on Wednesday night with three outfit
changes.
The singer, 38, who plays Harley Quinn in film, commanded attention as she left the afterparty at
Nomad Hotel in Covent Garden in an outlandish face print bodysuit and
matching stockings.
The pattern had drawings of bleeding faces stitched together
and matched Gaga’s perfectly themed eye-shadow look for the psychopathic character in which
she portrays.
Gaga had originally arrived to afterparty in a striped minidress after wowing on the red
carpet in a custom scarlet Celine gown – and she made sure her outfit was still a
talking point when she left the bash with her fiancé Michael Polansky, 46.
Despite leaving in the early hours, Gaga donned a pair of dark shades and added to
her quirky look with ripped tights and baby blue platform heels.

An AFP photographer saw Smith leave the courthouse with what appeared to be
a large electronic surveillance bracelet attached to his ankle.

mode Abercrombie & Fitch, Michael Jeffries, sort du tribunal fédéral de l’est de l’Etat
de New York, à Central Islip, le 3 décembre 2024, après
avoir plaidé non coupable de trafic sexuel et proxénétisme

“It was to get people frustrated.”

Russell Crowe has argued that the rise of independent
politicians are better representing the views of
everyday Australians, unlike the two-party-dominated system in the United States.

The 21-year-old student said he had waited in line
until 11:00 pm on Wednesday but left before being able to vote as he had exams the next
day.
Des électeurs attendent l’ouverture d’un bureau de vote à Windhoek, le 29 novembre 2024 en Namibie
“It was to get people frustrated.”

The bold, confident, free-thinking modern woman who may soon occupy the White House
is not named Kamala Harris.
In her new No.1 New York Times best-selling memoir, Melania Trump shares a revealing look into her personal life and journey – from
a childhood in small-town Slovenia, to globetrotting pursuits as
a young model, to her courtship and marriage to one of the world’s most famous
men.
She also corrects the record, challenges her critics and
clarifies her positions on a range of issues
from abortion (she’s pro-choice) to the inclusion of biological men in women’s sports (female athletes
must always be ‘protected and respected’).
In fact, she sounds like many female voters grappling with the whiplash changes wrought by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s time in the White House.
The bold, confident, free-thinking modern woman who may soon occupy the White
House is not named Kamala Harris. (Pictured: Kellyanne with Donald and Melania Trump at the
White House in 2019).
‘The country is suffering,’ she writes. ‘We have wars around the
world… The border is open and dangerous… a lot of fentanyl is coming over and killing our youth….
The economy is really not great, inflation is high.’
I’ve known and worked alongside Melania for many years, and regard her
as a friend.
She has been unfairly maligned and the target of so much speculation and prevarication. That is why it has been so wonderful to see
her own ‘October Surprise’, a memoir in her own words on her own timeline, showing the measured, magnanimous woman tens of millions of Americans adore.
Earlier this year, Melania and I lost our mothers just weeks apart.
Even as she navigated her loss in public view, Melania made every effort to be there for me.
She and President Trump called, sent flowers, handwritten notes and
checked in with me time and again.
After my divorce was finalized last year, Melania showed
up again, supporting me as any caring friend would and encouraging me to swing open soldered doors following a
time of personal upheaval and transition.
