Stahlfenster aus einfachen Winkelprofilen werden gelegentlich noch für einfache Fenster ohne Ansprüche an Wärme- und Geräuschdämmung verwendet.
Der Höhenunterschied wird als TRAV-Höhe bezeichnet und ist
in von Bundesland zu Bundesland verschieden. Verglasungen ab einer gewissen Absturzhöhe müssen, wenn eine entsprechende Absturzsicherung fehlt,
so ausgeführt werden, wie es die Technischen Regeln für die Verwendung
von absturzsichernden Verglasungen (TRAV) vorsehen. Sie ist in der
jeweiligen Landesbauordnung (LBO) nachzulesen. Die Verglasung ist in aller Regel so aufgebaut,
dass innen ein Einscheibensicherheitsglas und außen ein Verbundsicherheitsglas verwendet wird.
