Bottom shelf!
Do you want to organize
your food pantry this year? Well I am starting to reorganize mine.
Welcome to Week #1 of a 5 week series on Pantry Organization
Shelf-by-shelf! I will be discussing some helpful tips and techniques you
may consider using for your pantry. You may also find ways to reduce some
of your cost out-of-pocket expensive when locating tools to use in your pantry
organization.
#1 {Bottom}
Start here! Look at the
bottom of your pantry shelf and decide on what you want to keep, donate or need
to get rid of. Be sure to check the expiration date of all items before
sorting.
Savings Tools
to use:
Plastic grocery bags, boxes, storage bins or recycle bags {great inexpensive
tools that you may already have at home that you can use to remove unwanted
items}. Check around your home first before purchasing any storage items.
Remove and sort items
where they can easily be found. If your bottom level has large space, consider
storing your tissue paper, paper towels, large drinks or juice boxes, barbecue
charcoal, pet food, etc. in this level. These items can be placed on the floor
or you may consider storage bins with handwritten labels {be careful that all
of your space is not taken up with the bins plus watch the costs}. As you
can see in my picture below, I store my bigger items on my bottom level.
It is very easy for me to find and everyone in my home knows where to look for
more.
Question: What
does your pantry look like now? Consider taking before and after
pictures. Feel free to share your pictures with me by email at
simplesavingsforatlmoms@yahoo.com – Subject line “My Pantry.” If I
choose your picture to be included on one of my blog posts, you will receive a
small prize!
Happy
Organizing,

My bottom shelf did have a lot of pet stuff, but since our dog died on January 2nd, I have been slowly going through all of it. Thank you for the tip on the paper towels and soft drinks…… I think I will put them down there where there is more room.

Wonderful Sherri and thanks for the comments. I do regret to hear that your dog has passed. I remember losing my pet dog when I was younger and was just devastated. So, I do know how you feel.

My bottom shelf has a huge bag of dog food taking up most of the space! Also grocery paper bags full of empty bags! I did find a big bottle of vinegar and some olive oil! Looks much cleaner now!

Great job Terri! 🙂
