We'll be taking my Mom out to brunch on Mother's Day then the kids and I will give her a handmade card the kids made and a gift card (she loves restaurant gift cards!)

We start by going to lunch with my mother in law, my twins and my oldest gift her a homemade card and I will be giving her a rosary. We then proceed to take my mother out to dinner and my twins and oldest also give her a handmade card + I will be gifting her money. We take pictures for the memories =]

This will be the first year we won't have my mother in law with us for Mother's Day (she passed away last October), so it will be slightly bittersweet. On the one hand, we know she is in a much happier place, but we sure do miss her… My mother lives on the other side of the country, so unfortunately, we won't be able to celebrate face to face with her. However, this year I sent her a copy of the book "The God Box: Sharing My Mother's Gift of Faith, Love & Letting Go" by Mary Lou Quinlan. I also purchased a copy for myself. Especially not having my mother in law here this year, it made me realize how important memories and unspoken prayers are. Once I heard about the concept of a God Box, I was sold. It will definitely be a family tradition for us from now on to pass through the generations.

Unfortunately the only way I can celebrate my mom is in memory. She passed away two years ago and is buried several hundred miles away so I can't even visit the cemetery.

I will be making my mother's favorite dinner of Roast beef and mashed potatoes and gravy with her favorite dessert of Strawberry Shortcake, and I and my son will give her a nice gift!
