Coupon Class Online – Day #27 Meal Planning + Giveaway!

Topic:
What is Menu Planning? Why should I plan meals for myself or my family?
—Menu planning is setting aside a certain amount of time
to decide upon which meals you want to prepare for your family for the week, month, etc.  I find the Menu planning is effective in that
it saves you time trying to think about what should you eat or prepare for your
family.  There are many websites and
blogs that can help you with meal planning.

If you need a sample sheet for planning your meals for next week,
consider the FREE one that is here at SSFAM.
Go directly to the “downloads” tab and print off a sheet.  Start to plan what you want to prepare for
next week.  When you get to the end of
next week after planning, think about how much time planning has saved you for
the week.

Simple plan to consider when meal planning using your
grocery store circular:
    *Gather your
cookbooks or the internet and get great recipes.
    *Look at the meats that are on sale first
{only if you eat meat}
* Check for drinks that are on sale or frozen drinks.
 * Check your coupons
to see if you have a coupon for a deeper discount. Is there a coupon you can
stack for a double deep discount {remember the stacking coupon topic?}
*Decide what meals you or your family may want on
certain days.
*Start a theme for meals on certain days.  For example, on Fridays we have Fish! The
fish can be fried, baked or steamed.   So
it gives us some options and plus we don’t get bored with the same meal.  What can you think about for Monday – Friday
as a theme for your family?
  *Check for healthy side items or vegetables
that you can place with the meals.
 * Don’t forget to
check your pantry and freezer for meals or sides that you can create or put
together with items you purchase from the grocery store.
 * Take your menu
planning worksheet or grocery list with you in the grocery store when you
go.  This way you will get all the items
you need and not have to go back to the grocery during the week.
Question:  Did you
find any of these meal planning tips helpful?
Do you currently meal plan?  How
often do you check the grocery store circular for meals you can prepare for the
week? Would you be interested in a Meal Planning Series here at SSFAM?
Happy Couponing and Meal Planning!!!

    I have started menu planning and it's been very helpful. Because I can basically only eat fresh vegetables, it's hard to shop more than a couple of days in advance (veggies go bad), but even planning a couple of days has really helped me stress less over food.

    Menu planning saves so much time when grocery shopping and it makes it so much easier to stick to the list.

    No image came up when I tried to pin it. So I made my own. Hope that's ok? If not, let me know and I'll pin a different image!

    I did find the meal plan tips useful! I sort of plan. I always buy meat that's on sale and then just do different dishes that I usually do. I would like to see a meal planning series from you! My side dishes are usually potatoes, because they're cheap, but I'd love to know what other gals are cooking for their family meals! There are just the two of us for dinner, but we do send care packages to the kids! Thanks!

    Wow! I've learned so much! Stacking coupons, checking marked down meat section, our local Shop Smart has a day old bread rack! And the Target stuff from yesterday was so detailed and useful! Stacking Coupons is my answer! 🙂

    I learned some great things from this class. I think one of my favorites was day 26, the Target information. Target is one of my favorite stores and now that I have that info I am going to be able to save even more.
    This class has been awesome, thank you for taking the time to spend with us.

    I liked day 23, when you talked about rain checks and rebates! A lot of couponers know about them, but don't take advantage of them! Thanks for the great tips!
