I get asked all the time on ways to reduce spending money in the grocery store. This is one of the most frequent questions I am asked. I have discussed with several new couponers that they have such a hard time trying to find coupons for the foods that they eat. Some have even mentioned, “It takes so much time,” “I work a full-time job,” “I get so confused with how to use the coupon.” I chuckle inside because all I can think about is I wonder how they would feel once they begin to see how much money they could start to actually save from their grocery bill each week. There are many excuses to not wanting to use coupons. However, with some time and effort changes in your out of pocket expenses can start to change with one step at a time. Here are my Top 7 Ways for you to get going for 2016:
1. Clear your mind! Remove all negative thinking or myths about using coupons. The truth of the matter is when you use coupons when a product is on sale and cheap can be both powerful and rewarding at the same time especially when you need it.
2. Stop sprinting pass the store sales ad. I have seen many individuals come into the grocery store and walk past the store sales ad like they are in a race, lol. It is true that not all sales are listed in the store flyer but the majority of the time, you can find an item on sale that you can use. Anytime I have to buy an item, I usually either find that item in the sales ad or an alternative that will be sufficient.
3. Keep it simple new couponer. When I am asked, “How can I start couponing?” I usually tell new couponers to choose only 1-2 stores that they really love. Learn the store coupon policy and start shopping those store sales. If you can keep the use of using coupons simple, this can decrease fears, anxieties and you may even use them more.
4. Get your coupon inserts. It is important to get all of your coupon inserts when they are available in your Sunday Newspaper. Each week I share what coupon inserts are in the newspaper and some of the hottest coupons that are inside. Be sure to find me on Periscope if you want to join in all the Sunday fun with some of my best viewers.
5. Use your resources.
6. Get Organized.
7. Get with a great support system.
