If you are like most Americans, you may prefer to pay with a debit or credit card. I prefer to pay with a debit card and sometimes cash. Is this truly the best option? Here are 3 suggestions to use when paying at the cash register for purchases:
1. Use your bank’s ATM card if you just need pocket cash. This way you will avoid unnecessary fees. I do this a lot to avoid anywhere from $1-3.
2. Pay bill electronically. You may be able to save on gas, time, and postage if you sign up with your banks online bill pay.
3. Pass on the prepaid debit cards. There may be extra fees for using the card. Be sure to check out the small fine print.
