Whenever there is an excellent sale on certain household/personal care items – I always purchase a 3 – 6 month supply with coupons. One bottle of deodorant may last me for one entire month. When the item goes off sale, I don’t feel bad because I am already stocked. The sales cycles come around every 3-6 weeks. When the sale comes around again I will purchase a few of the items to donate to one of my favorite charities that help women and children who are in need.
3 of my top favorite household/personal care items to stock up in my pantry when they are on sale:
1. Toothpaste – It is used everyday and it always super cheap or FREE with coupons when ever I have to purchase it. I would definitely hate to run out of toothpaste because squeezing the tube when there is nothing left in it can be annoying. I usually purchase around 3-6 tubes to restock my current supply.
2. Handsoap -With all of the bathrooms in my home we could never run out of hand soap. I recently found the Target store brand (up and up) with moisturizer on sale for only $0.79 each (7.5 fl oz). I picked up just a few bottles for my bathrooms and when guest come over. I like to have different scents available. Last Halloween, I purchased about 50 bottles of the soft soap 10 oz. for a little under $0.50 each. After Christmas this year, Walmart had a clearance on the Softsoap holiday edition 5.5 oz for only $0.49 each. Excellent stock up time!
3. Detergent – I feel everyone has their favorite detergent but I am not brand specific. I have a good supply of Tide, Gain, Arm & Hammer, Xtra, Purex, All, Seventh Generation along with other product brand detergents and fabric softeners. Whenever detergent is on sale and I can get them between $0.99-$2.00, I purchase only to restock. I haven’t had to restock my detergent supply in over a year! Amazing right?

This is a great idea. I'm going to save any coupons I find for toothpaste, handsoap, and detergent. I do like to stock up on household items I know I'll need so I don't have to run out just in case there is an emergency.

I like to grab a few great deals such as these, if I have any coupons to use! Thanks for the heads up 🙂

I'm a new couponer, my current stockpile is only laundry detergent. Due to my allergies I can only use certain products. But you have definitely given me an idea I can donate the items to shelters and other organizations who assist the homeless & low income families! Thanks sharing!

There's nothing better than having a stockpile of the things you know you'll need! Then you don't have to worry about running out of the house just to grab that one item! Also, that's a great idea to donate some of the items you get using coupons to charity!

I find it really easy to stock up on household items such as laundry detergent, dish soap, and toothpaste. However, it seems difficult to find stock up prices on meats. Quida do you have any suggestions on finding great prices on meats?

You can always check your local grocery store for any manager specials or clearances on meats that you may want to use within the next few days. It is also good to ask your local grocery store butcher on when they usually mark meat items down. Some individuals also purchase meat at places like Costco or Sam's and split the price of bigger quantities. Also check with local farmers who may sell their meat at a discounted price.
