Amazon Prime has been awesome for me. Finding the right price match plus expedited shipping can save you money compared to finding it elsewhere and using gas to go get it. So check things carefully, and weigh your options. ~Tom

Check out the items which are fulfilled by Amazon with free shipping – some of the other sellers add high shipping costs!

I use Amazon a lot to check customer ratings on items to buy in store. Also when price matching, I use the Amazon app, you can use it to scan the barcode of an item to make sure it's the same one. I often check out something in person at Target or other stores and then see it's cheaper on Amazon when I check the ratings.

I dont really know any tricks, I've occasionally reported to amazon a lower price found elsewhere in hopes that they would lower their price, i keep an eye on price changes on items i've 'saved for later'

Before price matching, make sure they are the exact same items in color, size and details such as shipping restrictions or so.

I found out that if you buy something directly from Amazon (not a 3rd party) and the price changes within 10 days of buying that item they can price match it for the new price.

My advice is when comparing prices see if you have a coupon for the item which could make it cheaper than Amazon
James Robert says
My advice would be to check out the reviews for the product to check for sizing, etc. and have Amazon Prime as well. It pays for itself
Susan Smoaks says
my advice is to do the research and make sure that you are getting the best price possible.

Read the reviews and compare prices to other stores.
Elena says
My advice is to avoid sellers with reviews that are not verified purchases

What I would do is make sure that all the stores you shop at price match to Amazon. And check there prices and compare to Amazon, if it is lower at Amazon, buy the item, if higher , in the store, ask them to price match to Amazon! This makes for huge savings for me and my family during the Holiday season. It also helps to have a smartphone when checking prices!

I think it's a good idea to search google shopping for the item on different sites so you have a good idea of the exact description. Then, you can search it on Amazon to comparison shop.
Cynthia Bacon says
My advice is if you find an item you want check the prices from section for other sellers to be sure you are getting the absolute lowest price.

My advice would be to take your time when price matching. Pull up several screen if necessary to make it easier.
Tammy Overstreet says
Always check out the "Deal of the Day" and "Bonus Deals of the Day". Also try to avoid shipping costs by choosing a seller that offers free shipping or sometimes sellers offer free shipping after you reach a certain amount…if you have other items to shop for that would be a great time to do it and save $$ on shipping costs.
EVERYTHINGSDIAMOND says
Read the most recent reviews.. a business could start out good then fall off. Read at least 10 reviews for consistency
Tayia Belle says
My advice is to always read the fine print and to make sure your looking about the right item. A lot of times Amazon will list an item but if you go to the drop down menu they'll list that item in different variations. So if your trying to prove match thoroughly check to make sure your looking at the exact same item. Also be sure to check item numbers and sku's to compare.
Angela Babio says
When searching for an item on Amazon I have learned to search using a few different key words and changing up the description. I have found that not everyone will list the description the same way. Sometimes the most obvious isn't the listing description.
Niki Kraus says
Never use the search option "sort by price: low to high". When you try to sort the products that way; they include the prices of Personal Sellers and those prices can vary a lot (starting as low as $0.01). Another thing is the do not include the costs of shipping in the sorted prices (which can vary largely -if you do have to pay for the shipping).
— this still annoys me Every time I need to look up stuff on Amazon, lol —
