Online Coupon Class – Day #6 – Pharmacy Shopping Tips!

Topic of the day:  Pharmacy stores (CVS, RiteAid and Walgreens)
shopping tips?
I do shop
CVS all the time and I love it!
There are
many great deals you can find at CVS besides pharmacy items (Toothpaste,
Deodorant, Cereal, Milk, Perfume, Candy, Hardware, Magazines, etc.)
Consider
these 6 shopping tips if you visit CVS!

—
1. Sign up for the Extra Care Card-watch for weekly deals
you can get from the in store coupon center.
—
2.  Purchase
items with Extra Bucks Rewards and save even more with your purchase.
—
3.  Scan your
Extra Care Card at the Coupon Center for immediate store coupons/savings.
—
4.  Purchase and
use your Green Bag Tag.  At every 4th scan, you will receive a $1 Extra Care Buck
(ECB). ECBs are like cash in CVS.  You
can use however many you want. Can only be used in CVS.

—  5.  Sign up for the beauty club to save on beauty
items.
6.  Look for
in-store clearance items.  Ask the
cashiers how to spot items on clearance.

Rite Aid

{6
Simple Savings shopping tips to use at RiteAid!}
1. Sign up for the Rite Aid Wellness + Loyalty Card
{can earn dollar-off coupons for your next trip}
—
2.  Always check
their clearance items.  I once found 2
backpacks for $5 each.  Regular priced at
$15.00.
—
3.  Sign up for
their email to get coupons sent directly to your email account.
—
4. Have your Wellness Card Scanned with pharmacy
purchases for additional savings.
— 5.  Sign up for their rebate program.
— 6.
Always scan the store sales circular for +UP reward items.

Walgreen’s
General
  • All valid
coupons should be presented to the cashier at the time of checkout.
  • Walgreens does
    not accept expired coupons.
  • Coupons and
their face value cannot be exchanged for cash or gift cards.
  • Competitor
coupons are not accepted at Walgreens.
  • Walgreens cannot
accept coupons for items not carried in our stores.
  • The number of
manufacturer coupons, including Register RewardsTM manufacturer
coupons, may not exceed the number of items in the transaction. The total
value of the coupons may not exceed the value of the transaction. Sales
tax must be paid, if required by state law.
  • Any coupon offer
not covered in these guidelines will be accepted at the discretion of
    Walgreens management.
Sale Items
  • Walgreens will
accept manufacturer coupons for an item that is on sale.
  • In the event
that any item’s selling price is less than the value of the coupon,
Walgreens will only accept the coupon in exchange for the selling price of
the item. Coupon redemption can never exceed the selling price of an item
and no cash back is ever provided in exchange for any coupons.
Multiple
Coupons
  • When purchasing
a single item, Walgreens accepts one manufacturer coupon and applicable
Walgreens coupon(s) for the purchase of a single item, unless prohibited
    by either coupon offer.
  • The coupon
amount must be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other
discounts or coupons are applied. (For example, a $5.00 coupon for a $4.99
item will result in a $4.99 coupon value).
  • When purchasing
multiple items, Walgreens accepts multiple identical coupons for multiple
qualifying items as long as there is sufficient stock to satisfy other
customers, unless a limit is specified. Management reserves the right to
limit the quantity of items purchased. Customer and employee purchases of
excessive quantities of advertised items is not permitted. An excessive
quantity is any quantity above and beyond normal household usage.
Buy One, Get
One Free Coupons
  • When items are
featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be
used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not
go below zero for the items being purchased.
  • Sales tax must
be paid for any Buy One, Get One Free coupon offers, if required by
    applicable state laws.
Internet/Print
at Home Coupons
  • Walgreens
accepts valid internet/print at home coupons with a clear and scannable
    barcode.

I do not shop at these stores much because the listed pricing is always so confusing! It is priced at this much but really without rewards it is this much, too much for me.

Ok and it is okay if this is just not the store for you right now Amanda. Sometimes the sales pricing at different stores can be confusing. I agree. Just find one that you really enjoy and stick to it. In the future, you can always give it a try. 🙂

I appreciate the tips for shopping at Rite Aid, I can't believe that I didn't think about signing up for their emails. They really do have the best clearance items, my best finds were a bunch of mini items like tape, mini staplers, mini notebooks etc. for .10 that I used for goodie bags and last year I bought 6 hanging baskets with cocoa liners for .75 each.

I have not done much shopping at CVS. This is an area that I would like to get better at.

Great! Just grab your sales flyer and look at the sale items especially those you can get extracare bucks back in the store. You may have to build up to the ECB at first but they are easy. Buy only what you need to gain the ECBs. Once you have a good amount, cash them in on other items that provide an ECB. Let me know if you have other questions. 🙂

I absolutely love CVS. Within my couponing group, I'm the only one that frequents CVS & saves alot of money. I just went there today & afte all my coupons I spent 17.95 and got 10 ecbs after buying 3 packs of huggies diapers. I would definitely use coupons at a pharmacy. I wish there was a Rite Aid in my area though.

I wish we had a CVS or Rite Aid. The only "national" pharmacy we have is Walgreens. After reading their coupon policy above, my head is spinning. This will take some time to comprehend. Thank goodness for this class!

Yes, Walgreens has some exciting rewards that you can get. What I usually do is see what is on sale with their store ads and how many points certain items will give and shop for those items. Once my points build up, then I cash in. 🙂 ~ Quida

I love the program CVS recently started where you earn $5 for every 10 prescriptions, I think it is. For me, that will be once every few weeks….

I shop at Walgreens and Rite Aid. We don't have a CVS 🙁
These two stores are where I really struggle. The Walgreens is always out of stock on whatever item is a killer deal. I also hate how they always put in small print that you have to buy $20 worth of such and such products in order to get 2K Register Rewards. Rite Aid I have the same problem with having to buy items to get your up rewards. I need help in this area.

Hi Tammy, with your local Walgreens, find out when products are usually stocked {when do they get a truck in}. Also, ask for a rain check on items that are out of stock – this way, as soon as it is stocked up you can still get it at the same sales price. Both Rite Aid and Walgreens unfortunately have different sets of rules when receiving their rewards. 🙂

I seldom shop at cvs and Walgreens only because by the time I do my other shopping I seem to run out of time because of the distance I have to drive.

My favorite pharmacy to shop is CVS, which I receive email coupons and use my CVS card to receive more coupons in the store. They also take manufacturer's coupons and I can use my Extra Bucks to utilize the most savings.
