How to Score Free Makeup by Couponing

As everyone knows, couponing is a great way to save money. But what not everyone knows, is that it doesn’t just apply to food or things for the house. Health and beauty coupons come out every week and if you know these few tips, you’ll be able to get your makeup for free. Look like a million bucks without spending a dime!

Loyalty Cards –

These gems are essential to have! They allow you to take advantage of store sales, special offers, and with many stores, if you register your card online, often, there are store coupons you can print off. Pairing store coupons with manufacturer coupons is one of the key ways you’ll be able to score free makeup.

Stay connected to social media and couponing blogs –

You’ll be able to find the best deals by checking out blogs and company accounts on places such as Facebook or Twitter. Companies are known for giving out coupons to their readers on social media (this includes drugstores, which are free makeup hotspots!). These coupons go FAST, as they’re usually higher value. By staying up on the current couponing sales, you’ll know when to print and make a mad dash for the beauty section.

Email makeup brands you like –

Makeup works just like any other product. Companies appreciate feedback and hearing from their customers. Write an email or letter to your favorite brands of makeup and politely ask them if they have any coupons they can send you.

Do your research and plan ahead –

If you’re fortunate to live near more than just one of the big three drugstores – Rite Aid, Walgreens, and CVS, you are probably familiar that they often have similar products go on sale around the same time. But just because the same products go on sale, doesn’t mean the prices are the same. Check out blog posts and sale ads and see what the better deal is. No need to pay 25 cents at one store when you can get your makeup free at another!

Use stores’ overage allowance to your benefit –

Some stores, such as Walmart allow you to use the overage from coupons towards the rest of your order. Use that overage to treat yourself to some new makeup. Try out new nail polish or a new lipstick color and feel great about it because you got it for…FREE!

Swap stockpile items with friends –

Not everyone needs or even wants to coupon for makeup. Talk to friends and see if they’d wanna do a swap.

Like luxury makeup but not the price? Find dupes! –

There are great higher end makeup brands out there, such as Mac or Urban Decay. Unfortunately, not everyone can spend $26 on a single eyeshadow. This is where dupes come in! There are tons of blog posts you can find on Pinterest where people are sharing their drugstore dupes for luxury brands. Wet n Wild eyeshadow is an incredible duplicate for Urban Decay and the best part is that Wet n Wild coupons come out fairly often. So you can save that $26 and look just as hot!

Treat yourself with the Back 2 Mac program –

Not everyone knows about the Back 2 Mac program, which can be awesome for you! This is a program where you return 6 finished Mac products (like empty lipstick, eyeshadow, blush, etc) and they’ll give you a free tube of Mac lipstick for free. You even get to pick the color.  Try posting on forums or Craigslist or even Facebook, offering to trade goods for empty Mac products. Try offering some things from your stockpile – see if they need anything. Put a little bag together and swap! Just be sure that whatever you’re swapping is worth it to you. This is a situation where you can weed out things from your stockpile AND score yourself free Mac lipstick. This is definitely a situation where “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” rings true!
