This
wonderful first female self made millionaire in America from hair
products birthday is celebrated today! She was born 12/23/1867 in
Louisiana (my home state) – Sarah Breedlove “Madam C.J. Walker” (name
created after her third marriage to Charles Joseph Walker – a newspaper
man)! After her third marriage, she started her own business in selling
hair products that were revealed to her in a dream.
She sold these products by going door-to-door! In 1908 she opened the
Lelia College named after her daughter and went on to more success. She
set standards in the African American community for corporate and
community giving “honest business dealings.” She later died May 25,1919.

inspired by some of her business skills and talents. (Credits:Madamcjwalker.com). Note: She did not invent the straightening comb or chemical perm
