Frugal living tips to save money
Here are some smart frugal living tips that can help you pay off debts:
1. Pay in cash: It
is essential to avoid using credit cards as much as possible. After the
Credit Card Reform Act, the credit card issuers have imposed various
kinds of fees on plastic cards. This has made credit cards quite costly.
So, if you want to buy something, then it is better to make payments in
cash.

2. Frugal budgeting: If you’re
not earning enough money to cover your living and debt expenses, then
curb your unnecessary expenses. Start eating at your own home,
discontinue your cable subscription, lend books from library, watch
movies by renting cds, quit smoking, stop purchasing designer costumes,
use single-fixture bulbs, composting toiletries, etc. You can’t even
imagine the amount of money you can save by taking these steps.

3. Make smart investments: Believe
it or not, it’s possible to earn a lot of money by making some smart
investments. If you’ve some funds in your savings account, then you can
invest in forex market and stock market. You can invest in these markets
with small funds. The money that you earn from these investments can be
utilized towards paying off your debts.

4. Start blogging: Try to earn
as much money as possible. Apart from traditional methods of earning
money such as part-time jobs or giving tuitions, you can earn money
while sitting at your own home. Several people are earning money by
creating their own blogs, writing web articles, ebooks, etc. They’re
using this extra cash to pay off debts. So, if you have a good writing
skill, then capitalize on it immediately.

5. Online bill payments: You may
be surprised to know that you can avoid late fees and penalties by
paying all of your bills online. You should withdraw funds from the
bank’s savings account only when the total bill amount has already been
deducted.

Finally, fix a date in a month on which
you will make payments to your creditors. If you get a weekly salary,
then keep aside a certain portion of money for making some extra
payments to the creditors. This will help you pay off debts faster.

Saving money – How can moms save money in a household?
Saving money seems to be a task that is simply difficult and not at all fun. But, the fact that saving money is of extreme importance cannot be denied. As a mom, there are various ways in which you may be able to save money every day while managing the household. This is not simply going to help you save money but also to become almost a financial expert if you can manage to save money properly. When in debt, even if you opt to consolidate debt, you will be able to use this money to make the payments.
Money saving tips for moms
So that you can save money while managing your household, you will be required to:
-
Save money by packing lunch – You can save money if you pack lunch for your kid and your spouse. This will not only help you save money on meals but also on medical bills. If your kid or spouse eats food from outside on a regular basis, it can take a toll on their health. As a result, you may have to take them to clinics and doctors; thereby resulting in expenditure of more money. But, if you brownbag the lunch for your family, it can help them maintain healthy life.
-
Save money on commuting – Rather than simply driving your kid to school, you can try walking the distance to the school. Or if you are going to the local grocery store, take the walking route rather than simply driving your car (if the store and school is located at a walking distance). This will help you save money on gas.
-
Save money on grocery – You can save money on grocery through couponing and taking advantage of the discounts. Couponing helps you in getting the same items for discounted price or getting the second item for free or getting something extra. In addition to managing your household, you will also be required to manage and organize the coupons so that you can use them as and when required (also as per the dates by which the offer ends).
-
Save money on electricity – You will have to save money on electricity. You will be required to put off the electronic items and switches in the off mode when these are not in use. To make things easier, you can simply install a power saving strip in your home. This when connected to the electronic items, puts those off when not in use. Thus, it helps in saving lots of energy.
-
Save money on entertainment – You can save money on entertainment if you avoid going out for movies on a frequent basis. Rent DVDs and CDs to enjoy movies at home. You will have to avoid eating out and rather try out new dishes at home.
-
Save money on parties – You can save money on parties by planning much ahead of time. In addition, rather than getting foods from outside, you can prepare a dish or two yourself, and ask your friends to bring some dishes too. Make it more of a potluck party and enjoy. This is going to help save lots of money too.
In addition to doing the above, it is also important for you to discuss the finances with your spouse. This can help you save money and if required, change the budgeting system in the way which will help you adjust the expenditure properly based on your income.

I have quit using credit cards and am trying to pay them all off now. I have found that if I only use cash when out shopping I don't overspend…it is too easy with even the debit card to not pay as much attention to how much you are spending

I love these tips. I really didn't have to live frugally until I left a great job in 2010 following a heart attack. Before that happened, I never realized how careless I was with my money… I spent it because I had it and that was that! The problem was… I kept spending it even though I didn't have it anymore! Eventually, the inevitable happened, and I hit rock bottom. However, I'm now learning to scour the Internet for great tips like these and I'm putting them to good use! I use cash vs. plastic as much as possible and am thinking about venturing into blogging. I love to write, but there's just something holding me back. I've been writing for sites like Textbroker and Zerys for a couple of years now, but I think I could make more money and enjoy myself more through a personal blog. Reading blogs like these inspire me more and more to go for it!!!

These are all good tips. I wouldn't necessarily agree that it's always a good idea to pay cash. There are so many credit cards that offer great rebates or incentives. But to use them you need to be aware of any fees and be disciplined enough to pay the complete balance every month. We've been using credit cards to earn airline miles since 1995 and have flown all over the world in business class for virtually free! (You have to pay the taxes. We flew RT to China in business class last fall for $250 for 3 people) We pay everything we can with our credit cards!
