Topic for the day:
Welcome to couponing! What is a coupon?
{A coupon is a ticket or document that
can be exchanged for a financial discount or rebate when purchasing a
product.  They are distributed through the mail, coupon envelopes (Value
Pak), magazines (All You, Food, Ebony, Better Homes and Gardens, etc.),
newspapers (Sunday’s newspaper) and the internet (online coupon codes).}

Manufacture
Coupons

       *Released by the company/brand
that makes a particular product.  Mostly found in your Sunday newspaper
inserts (Smart Source, RedPlum, General Mills, Proctor & Gamble and
sometimes Pepsi-co.).  It will say Manufacture coupon at the top and have
a redemption address and instructions to retailers on where to send the coupon
for reimbursement.

Store
Coupons
*Issued by individual store and are
deducted at the register as a store discount.  Only used at the store
issuing the coupon.  For example Target, Walmart, Toys ‘R’ Us, Old Navy,
Bed, Bath & Beyond, Publix, Kroger, etc.

Class Question:  How many different types of coupons have you
seen or familiar with?  Which type of coupon do you use the most?  Were you
aware of store and internet coupons?

Happy Couponing,

Quida

I use both manufacturer's coupons and store coupons. I especially like to stack the two for great deals at Publix.

Thanks. I love them both too. 🙂

I use both store and manufacture coupons. I tend to use more of the manufacture ones. I also use military only ones. I am aware of internet and store coupons and Target is my favorite place to use them!

Great Amanda and thanks for the class comment. I love Target coupons also. 🙂

I have used both store and manufacture coupons. I have also used both insert coupons and online coupons. I prefer store and I am good at clipping but I want to get better at using them. I love matching Target coupons with the manufacture's coupons.

I love matching Target with manufacture coupons also. Double the savings!!!! ~ Quida

I am so excited to be attending this class! I really need to be a better couponer.
I have used both manufacturer and store coupons. I use manufacturer coupons the most and try to mix in store coupons to stack if I can. I am not to crazy about ecoupons. I am never sure if they are taken off in the end and half the time I forget what was loaded to my card. I do also try to print internet coupons.

I am so excited to have you Tammy. I love both coupon suppliers. The ecoupons should deduct after the item is scanned but you want to make sure that you know the store coupon policy about using ecoupons. Sometimes the ecoupon will override a manufacture coupon for the same item. Printing internet coupons are also wonderful. 🙂

I haven't used any coupons, I'm just starting. Thank you so much for doing this class, I can't wait to learn more!

It may be scary at first Andrea and don't worry, I will definitely show you how. You are very welcome. Be sure to get this Sunday's inserts if you can. 🙂

  7. Karen B says

I don't get the Sunday paper but my parents save theirs for me and if its a good week for coupons I will go ahead and purchase a copy, I print online coupons often.

I use the newspaper insert coupons most, along with some manufacturer printed coupons and Target coupons. I am just getting into the ecoupons from Kroger and just learned that Publix is doing them also, so I signed up for those too!

    Thanks 🙂

Wonderful Kim. I see that Publix is also doing the ecoupons just be careful because to my understanding if you use an ecoupon and have a manufacture coupon, the ecoupon for the store will override the manufacture coupon and you may not be able to use it. Just confirm with Publix. ~ Quida

I use both store and manufacturer's coupons. We don't get the paper, but my mom and grandma pass on their coupon inserts to me, and I get a lot of coupons off the internet… especially coupons.com, swagbucks.com (and you can earn swagbucks for using the coupons so that one is a win-win), and newsletters from my favorite brands.

That is great Sherri that you have a wonderful source for some extra coupons. Coupons.com is a great source. Swagbucks is definitely a win-win. I get some great coupons also with some of my favorite stores. 🙂 ~ Quida

I have seen and used a lot of different kinds of coupons. But I have not yet used the eCoupons or Digital coupons. Thank you for the class. I used to coupon quite a bit and then I kind of got out of it- I am hoping to get back into it.

It would be nice for you to resume couponing again. Just start small and work your way back up. I use ecoupons from my grocery store plus there are many other coupons. Thanks Lisa. 🙂

I think I probably use Manuf. Coupons the most. My biggest problem is forgetting I have a coupon for something and then it expires!!

Thanks Amanda for the class comment. I have forgotten a coupon before and it expired but one good thing is the coupon can be donated to the military. We will discuss this later. Try to create a system that will work for you on remembering. Usually I gather all the coupons that I want to shop with in one are and put these in a special envelope. I only go shopping on a certain day of the week and the envelope stays in my purse and I usually don't forget any coupons now that I want to use. Let me know if you try this tip. ~ Quida

      Hi Brittany,

That is wonderful that you are familiar with two of the most common kinds of coupons. I love the manufacture coupons also, especially when there is no limit on the amount you can use. 🙂 ~ Quida

Thank you so much for running this class. I have used a couple of coupons from the internet before. And I am really good at clipping coupons, not so much at using them! I am hoping this class will show me all the ins and outs of using coupons and how people are doing the .50 off plus money maker parts of things as well.

      April 15, 2013 at 3:38 pm

You are most welcome Val and it is good to see you online today. Be sure to stay tuned for some additional great topics about coupons. You should learn a lot. 🙂 ~ Quida
