Talk to them with confidence about school they will sence if your nervous about them starting!! Its hard to let go the first few days of school and if you dont show that emotion they are well on their way!!

get everything out the night before, clothes, bookbag, etc
Attend an open house, and make sure they are prepared for everything.
Take them to any open houses, meet & greet the teachers etc.
Tell them that everything will be fine, they will make plenty of friends.
Let them know that you had to do the same thing, and talk them through the process.
I started with mine from a young age, making it seem like a fantastic party adventure. Evidently it worked because the first day of school he kept asking me to let him go in, while I kept wanting to hug him, and I cried all the way home, but the teacher told me he was GREAT all day!
Go to open house/orientation so that your child can meet the teacher, see the classroom, know how to walk to class and the lunchroom and the library, things like that.
going to check the school out durning open house nights is a great way to learn the lay of the land with your child.
Send them to school with a little something of yours. That way, whenever they get nervous or scared, they can just look at that little something
the best way is to create a song about it!

when they have orientation be sure to take them
It always helps that our school has an open house a few days before schools start.

When my daughter was younger she was nervous about starting school each year, even though she was going to the same school, with the same kids/friends. It helped that we went to the school a couple times before it started, to make sure she knew her way to classes, and to meet teachers, etc. I also told her that it was EVERY child's first day, and that she was not alone with her feelings. I assured her that it was ok to feel a little nervous and that within a couple days she would feel more at ease….and she always did.
Thanks for the chance to win!

Take them to meet the teacher and find out exactly what they will need and what to expect for the coming year.

Make sure they're prepare–if they don't have the things they need they'll be many times more stressed.

My kids school has an orientation day where the kids can go meet the teacher and other kids in their class and also get a nice tour of their school and classroom. I think this helps so much
I think going to the school and doing a tour to locate new classrooms is important. Also get a great new outfit to feel their best!
scarter305 at aol dot com
make sure to tour the school and meet the teachers, principal, etc, before the school year starts
Even though it wasn't "allowed", last year I took my daughter to go see her school. It was a lot better to see exactly where she was going. This year, she's literally down the road and has seen the school lots so she's a lot less nervous.

The best way to get your child excited about school is for you to act excited about school for them!
wilsonre09@students.ecu.edu
i don't know if there is a good way other than not acting stressed about it yourself
Getting her prepared on all front and building her self esteem.

the best way is just to get them excited about it instead of expanding their fears

I think a great way to decrease anxiety is to help your child get to know their classmates before they start school

decrease anxiety by playing school at home and teaching them the routine of school
try to find someone he knows that can help him
If the school allows for it, sit in in the beginning and slowly ease your way out of the classroom when your child gets comfortable.

i always took my children by their clasrooms before school started and walked around so they were familiar with on where to go and with the school
I make sure they get lots of rest! My girls look forward to school every year!
My kids are always excited for school not really ever fearful. We always meet their teachers ahead of time and tour their classroom.
My 2 boys have never had a fear of school. We spend alot of time walking around the school at the registration process. Find their locker, cafeteria, locate all their classrooms, then they go home and find out who might be in their class.
I think it is definitely helpful to mentally prepare a child before the school year begins. Discussing what routine changes will be coming up can make for easier transitions.
i let take something that eases there stress like a stuffed animal or something of mine entered under carol roberts
Invite friends over to the house to play pretend school.
Make it sound exciting like a new adventure 🙂
Make school familiar to them tour it go to events, play at the playground
Discuss things with them. Make sure they have the correct supplies. And begin to work them into their school routine.

Make sure they have everything they need (but not too much stuff to make them look like they are going camping), and tell them not to worry about what other people are thinking all the time.
– Cheri Anne
Make sure to go to open house, a little early, so they can see their classroom, before the crowd is directed there. Allow them to look around, and encourage them to say hi to other little ones doing the same thing.
